Underground water leak detection
Persistent wet ground, unexpected meter movement or water beneath a driveway can point to a buried pipe problem. Establishing the source comes before digging.
Discuss this problemStart by identifying the supply
Buried pipe routes are not always straight or recorded. The meter, stop taps, property boundaries and any available plans help define the investigation. Tell us if the supply serves an outbuilding, another property or a garden feature.
Narrow the location
Acoustic detection may pick up noise carried by escaping water. Where suitable, tracer gas and sectional testing can provide further evidence. Pipe material, ground conditions, depth and background noise all affect which methods are useful and how precise a result can be.
Access with a purpose
Once evidence supports a location, necessary excavation can be planned within the agreed scope. Utility routes, restricted access and the surface finish need to be considered first. Decorative and remedial reinstatement, such as relaying a finished driveway, is excluded from the residential package.
Confirm responsibility first
An outdoor leak is not automatically on a pipe you control. If a boundary, shared supply or water-company pipe is involved, confirm the responsible party and permission for work before booking. We need the full address and any water-company correspondence.
